Commenting on this occasion Dr. Ramdass, Vice President, NISA Product development said,

NISA V14 will satisfy the long standing needs of key customers, especially in the energy & power industry. The major highlights of V14 are the improved rendering of objects in the pre/post processor and the overall improved usability of NISA with the addition of many useful features. The Civil engineering module has also undergone significant enhancements with new features. We have also improved the existing codes of practice and added specific AISC, ASME & IS codes in NISA for the first time. Piping design as per ASME is one of the highlights of this enhancement. The software has been repackaged for easier and robust installation on the current windows platforms.

The important advances in the new release include:

  • Computation of ‘missing mass correction’ during dynamic analysis for better seismic designs
  • The enhancement of ‘Code-checking’ functionality in DISPLAY III for 3D beam element as per AISC (America Institute of Steel Construction) and ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers)
  • ‘Stress-linearization’ of 3D solid elements in DISPLAY III to conform to codes of practice
  • The use of OpenGL in DISPLAY IV for a higher level of 3D graphics. Also, the graph utility for results presentation has been enhanced substantially
  • A more user-friendly with a considerably enhanced GUI for pre-processing in ENDURE-the fatigue & fracture mechanics module of NISA
  • Design of steel structures as per the American Society for Mechanical Engineers (ASME) codes
  • Pipe design as per the American Society for Mechanical Engineers (ASME) NB, NC and ND codes
  • The ‘Design Interrogation’ feature in NISA-Civil, which allows users to click on any part of a structural model to view detailed design information on the fly
  • Design of earthquake resistant structures as per the Indian standard IS: 1893-2002
  • A simple and fast method for generating ‘foundation springs’ in structural models
