Version 17.1 Released

NISA Version 17.1 Now Supports Windows 7

September 20, 2010—Cranes Software, a leading manufacturer in enterprise statistical analytics and engineering simulation software products and solutions announced the release of the latest version of its leading Finite Element Analysis software, NISA Version 17.1, today.  This significantly improved version supports Windows 7 and offers many new features for pre- and post-processing, data translation, as well as NISA/CIVIL enhancements.

In NISA Version 17.1, the Pre-Processor in DISPLAY III & DISPLAY IV features an Advanced Tetrahedral Mesher (ATM), which has the ability to create tetrahedral mesh from an existing linearTri/Quad surface mesh. Surface mesh can be generated using the Advanced Surface Mesher (ASM) facility in DISPLAY, or imported from any other third party software.

Version 17.1 also offers a large input format, which removes the restriction of one million nodes and elements. This feature enables the users to have nodes and elements ID numbers beyond 1 million (I6) and up to 100 million (I8).

DISPLAY IV features key meshers additionally utilized in NISA Version 17.1. The Advanced Surface Mesher (ASM) is extended to work with Trimmed Parametric Surface (TPS) data. Using this feature, the user can mesh individual or entire TPS data with the required options. With individual TPS Meshing, the connectivity between 2 adjacent TPS is guaranteed by the user, and connectivity maintained when all TPS data is meshed together.

A comprehensive project report can be now generated from DISPLAY IV in either HTML or Microsoft Word format can be generated automatically saving users a considerable amount of time.

All CAD translators are upgraded with ACIS R19 to support many additional CAD versions.  The FEA translators offer FE data translation from NISA to ANSYS, and Nodal temperature and temperature difference (*NDTEMPER and *NDTEMPDIF) is supported.

NISA II now supports Direct Frequency Response Analysis where by users can analyze structures under support excitation with specified amplitude and phase spectra. For large structures the direct frequency response analysis is expected to yield more realizable results compared to modal frequency response analysis.

NISA II now offers more robust Lagrangian algorithm for surface to surface contact element to model both 2D and 3D contact elements.

The HEAT III module is now coupled with EMAG to solve coupled thermal electrical problem utilizing enhanced capabilities of HEAT III.

NISA/CIVIL now includes a geometry-based building wizard which allows the user to easily model floors in a structure, which can be further analyzed and designed by specifying the columns and loads data.  Additionally, flat slab modeling functionality is extended for irregular geometries. An improved user interface includes user-friendly icons as well as undocked toolbars to suit user preferences.

NISA is also now integrated with Engineering Technology Associates’ (ETA’s) advanced finite element modeling software, VPG/PrePost, which offers a wide range of capabilities particularly attractive to users in transportation-related industries. The integration allows the user to build NISA models and examine analysis results through VPG.
