Version 18 Released

January 23rd, 2012—Cranes Software is pleased to announce the release of NISA Version 18, an engineering analysis software tool for structural, thermal, fluid, and electromagnetic applications.  This version offers streamlined and expanded Pre- and Post-Processing capabilities, supports larger models and features a new “Seepage” analysis feature.

“We have expanded NISA’s features and capabilities to further enhance its usability.  One notable improvement is its ability to support larger formats, up to eight digits, within the HEAT III, Fluid-incompressible, and EMAG modules. This will allow users to solve problems with up to 100 million elements,” said Vipul Kinariwala, Product Manager for the NISA suite of finite element (FE) programs.

An exciting addition to NISA’s HEAT module in Version 18 is its ability to support “Seepage” analysis, a key factor in studies related to slope stability, groundwater contamination control and earth dam design. Using this feature, HEAT offers the user the ability to predict and evaluate the direction and flow of groundwater through porous media.

Pre- and Post-Processing in the DISPLAY IV module of Version 18 have been significantly improved upon with the development of a modern and intuitive Graphical User Interface. For civil engineering users, a new concrete element (NKTP 31) was added and a new “Reinforcement” feature was also implemented.  NISA’s reporting capability is now even more flexible, allowing the user to automatically generate reports in both HTML and Word file formats.

As always, NISA offers interoperability with all major CAD software. The bi-directional FE data interface to NASTRAN was significantly enhanced allowing more complete translation of data between these two popular FE analysis programs.

For multiple core machines, NISA’s EMAG (electromagnetic) module now includes a complex parallel equation solver.  The solver significantly increases the solution speed for those using two or more processors.

This version also interfaces seamlessly with the PreSys™ finite element modeling environment, developed by affiliated company Engineering Technology Associates, Inc.  This offering will allow NISA users to take advantage of PreSys’s streamlined user interface, CAD interoperability, configurability and advanced graphics capabilities.
